University interview clothes

This may sounds silly but when going to university interviews what is the style of clothes best to wear? I've asked around and people have given me 50/50 answers; 'Wear what your comfortable in' or 'Go professional', some people have told me it depends on the course (In which I'm doing film production) because some are more lenient than other but I'm not sure if that is true. The interview itself is a group one, I'm not sure if that has any relevance to clothes but help would be appreciated.

hi dont worry its not a silly question. what i would say is if youre not sure go professional because youre not going to make a bad impression by looking professional but if theyre expecting you to dress formally and everyone else is and youre dressed casually it might give a slightly bad impression. at the end of the day it is an interview as well so im sure most people will lean towards dressing professional.
Hi, I've moved your thread to the main applications forum

For undergraduate study just wear something comfortable. You may want to dress in layers if the interview is Dec-Feb as you might be going from cold/wet outdoors to quite stuffy warm rooms inside.

They aren't going to be marking you on what you're wearing and they aren't expecting would be undergrads to show up in suits - being comfortable in your clothes and thus being able to answer confidently is better than wearing an unfamiliar outfit you aren't comfortable in and being distracted by that when answering questions.

Have a look at videos of staff and students on the university website and YouTube and see how they dress. That should reassure you that dressing comfortably is perfectly acceptable.
My standard advice if you can’t find videos is to dress in the same way you would for Sunday lunch at a pub with your nan. Comfortable but avoiding anything too low cut or tatty
