Medicine degree HELP

Hello , I am in year 12 and do chemistry ,psychology and history alevel.
I wanted to do biology , chemistry and history originally at alevel however when I did my second bio GCSE's I had a HUGE PANIC ATTACK over family problems during my exam so i got a 6 in biology 😬 I basically took that as a sign that biology was not for me and I spent the whole summer thinking I genieunely failed biology and so I removed my dreams of doing medicine in my head.In the end I found out that with a 6 I could do biology at my school but i was not confident in my ability .

However , recently I have been attending the medicine programmes my school provides and I have found my passion for medicine again .I never completely lost it but I see HOW competitive medicine is and feel that my GCSE results 98777776665 are not good enough and I wont make it 😟😓I achieved a 7 in chemistry and a 5 in physics and a 7 in maths and a 9 in english and 6 in bio .

ANOTHER PROBLEM, is that when i was advised by my career advisor to take psychology as some unis take it as a second science and if I change my mind i can always apply for medicine . HOWEVER, now ive researched only like 3 universities accept chemistry and psychology with no biology ( I was told that chemistry was most important and not bio 🥲🥲🥲🥲) . And i know that those universities are also filled with students who did do bio at alevel and are potentially?? Seen as better .

ANWAYS,I just need some advice what to do .Im trying to convince myself that I could do medical negligence law but i dont want to sue the doctors ,I want to be one 😭😭Im trying to think that if I do alot of medicine work experience and supercurriculars and show a genuine interest in Medicine they will take me .... Am i being delusional or not.

I feel really stupid as I was in a really dark place at the beginning of sixth form and did not think about my future and HOW IMPORTANT alevel decisions are .And my parents are first gen immigrants who dont know the school system and who stressed me out with their divorce so i got no support on their behalf .

However , with motivation I know i will succeed but i honestly want to know if any good medicine university's will accept me with my mid gcse's and peculiar A-level combination 🙏🙏🙏 If not i will settle with law as a second option.
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH FOR READING THIS

im sorry to hear about your difficult situation, i hope you can find a way and things get better for you.

your gcses are fine to medicine. they may seem not the best, but a lot of med schools do gcses as a min requirement, and no scaling, with at least x grade in y amount of subjects to make it. i think the 5 in physics should be fine, but check for any schools you are interested in if they check all 3 sciences, or check 2 only, or any, whatever combo.

most med schools to my knowledge want chemistry required with a 2nd science (generally bio) and any 3rd subject. no a level is seen "better" than any other a level as long as it is within criteria. it's good you have chemistry, but psychology like you said can be troubling. is there any way you can swap over to biology? it may be a lot of content by this point that was covered depending on how your sixth form paces through the course, but if you've got the will then i believe in you. really try to push with your sixth form if they resist.

i recommend practicing well for the ucat, getting good work experience and volunteering (and write everything you see, learn, and understand from those experiences, you won't remember them after 6 months), making a great personal statement and doing well in your a levels. if anything, you could also try graduate entry medicine by doing a related degree e.g. biomed and then applying for medicine.

you've been through the low, now the only way for you to go is up.

As above, your gcse's are fine for medicine unless you had dreams of Oxbridge, as well as your a-levels as all that is needed is A's in chemistry, another science and any other a-level that isn't art or something.

However, medical school is much much much harder to get into than just grades as everyone that applies has top grades, so they must take further steps to decide which applicant to take.
1 in 8 receive just one offer to study medicine at any uni, every single one of these people has good gcse's and A's at a-level.
If you are serious about medicine, you should look into volunteering and work experience and also look into the ucat, a test you will have to take, the score basically decides whether you get an invite to interview or not.

Best of luck, if you have any more questions I'll do my best to answer them.
Medicine is a long road, you will be studying daily through medical school and continue studying while you are a junior doctor, so if you aren't up for the task of always working for the rest of your life for almost minimum wage, medicine isn't for you.
