Hi there!

I currently study Biomedical Science (BSc) at London Metropolitan University. I can offer my opinion from my own experience studying here.

I have never really understood the purpose behind the prestige of certain names. Ultimately, we all leave with the exact same degree after 3 years and all work just as hard to achieve that qualification, so why should it matter about the name of where you graduated from? What I think is most important is YOUR experience; enjoying your studies, enjoying the campus experience, managing your workload effectively. I don't at all agree with the trend of bashing people for attending certain universities, and I'm not completely sure where it stems from.

We have great resources here! For example, our science department has a superlab as well as state-of-the-art sports science and therapy facilities and dietetics labs.

I've certainly enjoyed my time studying here so far - the campus is fun and friendly with loads of activities to take part in and great academic support.
If you are considering studying at one of these universities I'd suggest you ask other students about their experiences studying here, as I don't think rumours always have credible sources. You can also check out the university website and attend open days to see what you think for yourself!

I hope this helped! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Hey Millie,

Great question!

LSBU often gets underestimated online, but in reality, it has a lot of strengths that deserve more recognition. The central London location (Zone 1) makes it incredibly convenient, especially for students who want to commute - that was one of the main reasons I chose it. The university takes a very career-focused approach to learning, particularly in fields like nursing, engineering, business, and law. Many of the courses include placements and practical projects, which means you gain experience that’s directly relevant to the workplace.

I’ve also found LSBU to be a very inclusive and supportive environment, with students from all kinds of backgrounds and good access to academic, mental health, and career support. It’s also worth noting that LSBU has been ranked well for graduate employment and is more affordable than many other London universities, which makes it a smart option for a lot of students. I have personally enjoyed my time there having done and undergrad and then progressing onto a postgrad course.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them!
