aston uni or university of birmingham?

Hi guys,

I really don't know which of the two is better, and I want to hear people's opinions on it - I really like UoB, it's got such a pretty campus and so many societies and events going on, it felt like a small community at the open day and had a lively environment, but I'm worried that there's not a lot of BME and I'd really like to have a community for people like me. Aston, however, has a lot of BME and great facilities for the course I've applied for, plus good connections to the field, but the societies don't seem too great and it just looks so dull. when I went to their open day it was just so empty and it put me off, because having that social aspect to uni is really important to me aswell as the quality of the course.

if I could hear from other people about their experiences at each uni or just what they've heard and what they think would be a better fit for me, that'd be really helpful!!

Hi, I'm a Master's student at UoB and there's a pretty massive BME community, with seperate societies for different ethnicities specifically, with some that come to mind being bengali society, pakistani society and philipino society. Outside of cultural societies, there are a range to join across sport, drama, tech and much more, so you'll be sure to find your people.

Hey Zee!
Master Student in UoB as well, like Marjan said there is pretty big BME community in UoB with more than 350 socities. This means there is a big possibility there will be at least one society you are interested in and they are quite active especially at the start of the semester. Apart from this Guild of Students (Our own student union) hosts various social events throught the year as well which are quite crowded. So from my personal experience so far it has been quite lively for the socia aspect of UoB
