PGCE maths equivalency test

Hi, I don’t see much on here or anywhere really about the experiences people had with doing the A Star maths equivalency exam to get into teaching if you don’t already have a C in maths. I was wondering if anybody knows how the exam will take place online, I understand there’s an invigilator watching you and the video will be examined after to ensure no foul play but how did you feel about the exam? What resources came most in handy to pass? How long did you revise for? How many times did you take the exam until you passed? I aim to take the exam before September so I can apply for the secondary PGCE in English. Looking and reading at people’s experiences help greatly with anticipating and procrastinating my own learning for the exam. Any information would be very helpful!

Hi! I took the A star equivalency test for English three months ago. I think the exam is basically as you described, to be honest I didn’t feel anxious. As long as you follow the rules, it will be fine. Just take it easy! I don’t really have tips for maths revision, but personally I think it is easier than English and you still have a lot of time to prepare. Btw there are flexible options for exam dates. The earlier you book, the cheaper price.

Did you have the paper test at home or online at home?
