art GCSE

I've been on the fence about taking art as a gcse for a while now, everything ive read and everyone ive spoken to about it have said not to take it as its time consuming and a heavy workload, but i spoke to my art teacher yesterday, she told me i would be a great fit for art and i am suddenly more convinced by her to do it. another option ive been considering is food tech, however it doesnt seem like the kind of thing i would take particular interest in though i do enjoy cooking.

Does anyone have any advice because i feel so lost atm?

art gcse is a pretty heavy workload as its marked both on coirsework in the form of sketchbooks and all day final piece exams. its always better to take a subject you think youll enjoy, and if you stay on top of the work load you should do fine as "quality" of work is only one portion of the mark scheme.

It’s time consuming like any other course work subject but for art you have to be able to make something out nothing, at least from my experience. Initially I didn’t understand this concept which made work more taxing as you’re basically forcing yourself to do it. So if you know you can take great inspiration from a small prompt and then deliver that idea convincingly, the weight of the course work won’t be felt as much.
