Hi all,
I’ve applied for the Physician Associate course at UWE and have an online interview soon. Can anyone who’s been through it share what to expect—question types, preparation tips, and what they’re looking for?
Any advice would be really appreciated!
Thanks! 😊

Hi Chloe, I’ve also applied to uwe. How did your interview go?

It went really well, thank you, and I was offered a place! The interview was mainly ethics-based questions and lasted only ~20 minutes. The interviewer was so nice as well and really made me feel at ease about the whole thing because I was pretty nervous. Good luck for your interview!

Don’t do it . Decline . There is no future for the PA role . Haven’t you done your research ?

Have you done any research into this course and the job it is supposed to lead to? Have you done any research on how many PAs are currently unemployed? I hope that you understand that this course is a vocational course and only leads to this one job so if you don't get that job it can't be transferred? Have you heard of the Leng Review?

Hi, do you know when the course starts? Like have you had any updates?

What do you expect to get after you have done this course? There aren't any jobs currently and the job title has changed to Physician Assistant even though the course is still called Physician Associate. There aren't any Physician Associate jobs now. They are all Physician Assistant jobs. It is also likely that assistants will not be paid on band 7 they could be paid on band 4.

I hope you are prepared to be called a Physician Assistant and not paid on band 7 if you do this course. That is if you can get a job. Most of the people who finished this course do not get Physician Assistant jobs as there is a very big shortage of jobs for this role.

Do your research and run. Doing this course would be a very unwise decision to say the least.

Leng Review says PAs are now called Assistants. They cannot diagnose, or triage patients or see undifferentiated patients.

There are no jobs.

UWE has closed their course for 2025. This is now the SIXTH university to close this dead-end course:

Chester (last year)
Sheffield Hallam
Reading
UAE
BSMS
UWE

Others will follow suit. If you have applied for this course, do your research and run. There is a reason these 25K courses are closing. The job title and scope for PAs has changed as per Leng recommendations which have been accepted by the NHS and the government. Please do not waste your money.
