Where should I study Graphic Design?

I applied to a few different Universities to study Graphic Design starting this September.

I applied to Huddersfield, Leeds Arts, Leeds Beckett, and York St John. I've actually received unconditional offers from hudds, Beckett and York but I'm still waiting to hear back from Leeds Arts.

I'm struggling with coming to a decision, I know I've still got a few months to decide but if anyone has some recommendations or info about which uni offers a better Graphic Design course, has better opportunities for networking etc, that'd be great.

Thanks

Hi there!
I'm Charlotte, a year 2 Graphic Design Student from Norwich Uni of Arts. My top tip would be to visit as many of your options as possible, as this allows you to get a feel for the campus and ask as many questions as you like to the current staff and students. Requesting prospectuses and reading about the course content from of each of the unis may also really help. I collected about 10 prospectuses and visited 4 unis before choosing this one.

Alternatively, you can ask current student ambassadors for your uni choices any questions via the UniBuddy platform!

Hope this helps and best of luck with choosing! I know it can be a daunting choice to make but I'm happy to answer any questions!

Go to the applicant/offer-holder days in Spring before you make any decisions.

Hi there!

I don't study Graphic Design but I'm at YSJ studying Psychology! I really recommend coming to a decision day. At the decision days you'll get to meet your lecturers, learn about how you'll be assessed, tour the facilities, have a look around York etc. The next few are the 15th of February, 15th of March, and 16th of April.

Here's a few things that helped me pick YSJ that might help you compare your options!

The support services. For me, making sure the university had good support services was a top priority! YSJ has dedicated disability and well-being practitioners and really good access to well-being services.

The city itself! If you're going to be studying somewhere for 3 whole years, make sure you feel safe, happy, and at home in that city. It can make such a difference!

The university size. YSJ would be classed as a small/medium university, with around 10,000 students. I wanted to be at a university with small class sizes, so that if I'm ever struggling or need help it's easier to ask for it.

If you have any questions about YSJ or want me to expand on the above let me know!🤗

Leeds is a great city to study in with a thriving arts community. There’s always something different to do so you are guaranteed an excellent social life. Our campus is based next to the city centre, so you have a range of great cafes, shops, green spaces and galleries at your doorstep. The Sunday Times has recently named it as the best place to live in the north. I have enclosed a link below with some of our must-visit places :

You can find out more about the course and studying at the university at our online open day. You can register on the link below. Alternatively you will have been sent some information about our upcoming offer holder days. These are a great way to chat to current students and staff about questions you may have.
