University of birmingham admissions

Hi, I'm curious and a little worried about getting into the university of birmingham. I know it's likely because it's my first choice.

I came across statistics that said their admission/acceptances/offer rate is 13-15% and now I'm a little worried.

I've applied there for history with grades A* (criminology) A (religious studies) and B. I'm still really worried however, and keep overthinking. I have other options I've gotten into like uni of Manchester and Derby but still. Anyone have any advice how to get over the panicking and overthinking?

Hi Anonymous,

I totally understand the feeling of being nervous about hearing back from universities, I experienced the same thing 2 years ago and again this year when applying to transfer university. Honestly, the nervousness doesn’t fully go away but just keep focusing on the things you can control - focus on revising your subjects, focus on your work if that’s something you do or just your hobbies. You won’t know until you know and there are so many other things they consider aside from your grades.

You’ve got this and good luck!!

Hi, the University of Birmingham's 13–15% acceptance rate can be intimidating, but with your A*, A, B grades in Criminology, Religious Studies, and another subject, you have a strong foundation for a History programme. Focus on the strengths in your application: highlight how your A-Level subjects have honed your analytical skills and prepared you for historical research.
