I walked home alone tonight after being warned

Walked home alone tonight and it’s not as scary as people may it out to be. Ask me anything
I've walked home alone at night a great many times in my lifetime - I got lucky and didn't encounter some absolute lunatic. That doesn't mean it's advisable though if there's a safer alternative.

It's actually usually a lot safer than people think, especially around universities. But it is the super dark areas that make me a bit anxious. I never know whether to have my music on or not and I do enjoy having my headphones in.

It's actually gotten to me a lot I've been building a tool to help show the lighter areas around you. Hopefully it makes me/people feel more comfortable and safer on their walk home.

Is there anything specific that would help you personally feel safer walking around at night? Would you avoid parks altogether or don't mind if it shows you where the street lights are?
