Would I be able to get into Oxbridge, LSE, KCL, Bath etc with these GCSEs grades

I ended up with 877666665 with minimal revision however if I could go back and revise I would (was 1 mark away from a 7 in music and literature).

After coming to sixth form, I realised my aspirations were big and I wanted to go into a top university however most universities look at GCSE grades and compared to other mine don’t look the best. I’ve applied to programmes to help however most even require 5 subjects grades 7-9 so it’s been quite hard.

I just want to know if I can even be allowed to dream big with my grades assuming I get A*s in my A levels (maths chem psychology - wanting to go into economics. Any tips and advice would be really helpful, thank you!!

Heyy, I would just check if your course has any specific gcse's requirments cause for some you only need like 5 grades at a 6 and over and some courses you only need certain subjects at a certain grade for gcses eg a 6 in Gcse Maths

Unis care far more about your A level grades than your GCSEs.
They may ask ask for specific GCSE grades, but typically only Maths and/or English.
Yes, they will probably also assess your overall GCSE profile, but this forms a very small part of their overall assessment - typically GCSEs count for about 20%. So - stop worrying.

Firstly, I would really focus less on questioning whether you can dream big (you 100% should). You are 100% allowed to dream big. Your GCSE grades are not the be all and end all.

Realistically, if you are looking at the Top 5 Econ unis, they may be more likely to take your GCSEs into account, just because competition is so high and they are often forced to filter candidates, unless something really stands out. There are really so many unis out there offering Econ, so there will be something that you can find that's an insurance place vs. a top choice.

For now, I would focus on making sure your A level grades are good, as good as they possibly can be. You don't want to be in a position where you say "I ended up with XXXXXXXX with minimal revision however if I could go back and revise I would." You can totally rock your A levels, stand out with an incredible personal statement, do extracurricular activities etc. to achieve your Econ goals. I do think you need to put your head down and commit to the goal. Good luck!
