Old HNC was a level 5, anyone asked for it to be upgraded?

Hi, I studied an HNC in Civil engineering in 2011-13.

Back then it was an level 5 same as HND was a level 5. However when they redesigned and brought it the NQF they downgraded an HNC to level 4. So therefore short changing the study.

I just wondered if anyone has been in this situation applying for any other study?

Also, has anyone asked their qualification company if it can be upgraded to an HND for the new framework?

Thanks

Not sure I can answer your question but supply perhaps some useful input.
I have an old HNC. Older than yours.
In my day, an HNC was regarded as equal to the first year of a 3 year degree. And an HND involved another year of study, and equal to the 2nd year of a 3 year degree. These days they have introduced the FdSc which is a foundation degree or roughly equal to the HND.
So the HND involves about twice as much study time as a HNC ( I believe that was always the case), and goes perhaps a bit more in depth on various subjects. I did a number of endorsements to my HNC. And 3 extra subjects or endorsements was roughly equal to a HND, at the time.
I am not sure what you are trying to achieve, whether it is a top up to an HND or professional qualification.
Within the past few years I have achieved C.Eng status in IMechE, based on my combined education, training and experience. Bit like a mature candidate entry. If that is your objective, I suggest you apply to the relevant institution.
They will assess you cv, and detail the points you need to fill in.
If you want to apply for further education you can see if recognition of prior learning is taken into account.
I accept in time they mess about with qualifications, but the only way is to try and find away round it.
These days there are more distance learning programs available. Pearson HN units can be studied at various online centres and perhaps used as a top up to an HND. These courses are all based on assessment work.
Perhaps of some use.

I have a 1972 HNC and am thinking of a student loan so it is imperative to see if old HNCs retain level5 .If they do then 2 years loan gone .This because you can only have approx 4 years .of HE loan .My assumption is that old Hncs must retain level 5 because of their structure. They had to sit on top of an ONC whereas the old HNDs were a direct entry with 1 A level .
Comments please ?

Forgot to mention that the first year of the old HND had to cover the ONC subject s because no prior knowledge was required only the 1 A level .
