EPQ Subject v Uni course

I'm currently almost finished writing my EPQ dissertation, however I'm beginning to panic that it will potentially negatively impact my uni application. I want to do criminology at uni, however, my EPQ is about language development in children, which is nothing to do with criminology. Will this still help me to get a reduced offer for unis or not??
