MSc in Finance vs. MSc Applied Economics with Banking & Financial Markets

Hi everyone,

I am considering two master’s programs at the University of Bath:
1. MSc in Finance
2. MSc Applied Economics with Banking and Financial Markets

My career goal is to break into the finance industry, specifically in roles such as portfolio management, investment banking, venture capital, or financial analysis. I want to develop strong technical skills in financial modelling, risk analysis, investment strategies, and data-driven decision-making.

I would love to hear from current students or alumni about:
How do these programs differ in terms of practical finance applications?
Which course provides better exposure to financial markets, investment strategies, and corporate finance?
Which program has stronger industry connections, networking opportunities, and job placements in investment banking or asset management?
How relevant is the Applied Economics program for high-level finance roles, or would MSc Finance be the better option?

Your insights and experiences would be extremely valuable in helping me make the best decision. Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to your thoughts.
