February/Valentine’s Day <3 & Self Love:

:lovedup::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:SELF LOVE :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::bubbles:

What can we do for ourselves which can in turn help us to help others?:emog:

In other words, what can you do to make sure your cup is full before pouring your energy into others?:lovedup2:

Whether you are single this February, coupled up or it’s more complicated than that… whatever your relationship status, it is important to look after yourself and the people that you care about - we are all in this together:hippie:

:love:

:party:

At Papyrus we are asking you the questions…

1. What are your favourite strengths about yourself?

2. How do these impact the way that you can care for yourself and others?:suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith::suith:

I think a lot of people may not have responded to this as it might feel wrong to air what strengths you have. But I'll try to get the ball rolling in case this encourages anyone else to recognise their strengths...So I like how interested in different subjects I am, and how detail orientated I can be. This helps me to be more thoughtful and caring towards people I suppose. :smile:

This is such a lovely thread idea, thank you :lovehug:

I think one of my greatest/favourite strengths is that I feel (and have been told) I'm a really good listener. I try to make myself as available as possible to my friends and try to practice active listening and make sure I'm focusing my answers on them and their experiences, rather than regaling them with stories about myself as a form of empathy. This hopefully helps my friends to feel seen, known, loved, and heard - and hopefully encourages them not to bottle up their stress or worries :redface:

❤️ That's a really positive thing have to have recognised about yourself by others isn't it 🙂 We think it's brilliant that you have made the distinction between passive and active listening and that you make it a point to engage fully with what your friends are saying. Sometimes it's okay to empathise by relaying our own experiences but it is also really important to allow people the space to talk about how they are feeling too, so really well done for feeling able to open up that space for someone 🤗 it isn't always easy. We are sure that your friends definitely do feel seen, heard and loved - we hope that you have that space for yourself as well 😊

Thank you for sharing that, you're right, it can be hard to acknowledge our own strengths. Sometimes a good way of getting past that is by envisioning ourselves as someone else and trying to think about what you would say about them - or thinking about what positive things others might say about you, can also be a good way to see your personal strengths. We think it's great that you have recognised how being a very thoughtful individual can positively impact the way that you look after yourself and help others out too 😀

Thank you! It is nice to hear that friends think I'm a good and attentive listener - and I'm lucky that I have lots of people who give me that same kinda space (thanks for asking about that!) :h:
