Gcse history or geography

History:, rlly interesting topics (ww11 and medicin), im good at essay writing , saw the description and it says its valued a lot by unis and 6th fiorms , because of its academic rigour . Helps with english too, find it a tiny bit more interesting than geograohy, cam be lots to emmorise, not as much trips -only one to london- they might do one to the wild west in the fiture

geography: Related to science my future career, i like physical geography, nature , wildlife, can learn about the world around me, easier , but im scared its not as valued as history, school trip to iceland many transferable skills, quite passionate about climate

both techers told me t pick their subject irdk!!!!

I take both geography and history for gcse, and tbh, I find history more interesting. However, geography is definitely easier in my opinion since theres is lots of content in history. I recently got a grade 6 in geography and a 4 in history in my mocks (I'm in Year 11), which shows the difference but its different for everyone tbf.

If you're looking for a subject that's more manageable, geography is a good choice since it tends to be more easier. But if you're passionate about history, I’d say go for it just be prepared to put in the effort. And you mentioned, you're good at essay writing, and that's really important for history, so that skill will definitely help.

I'd say pick history. You said you find it more interesting, so it's the obvious choice to go for. But it also depends on what career you're aiming for. If you're going for ecology, zoology, environmental science, etc then geography will obviously be more beneficial than history. But as these are just GCSEs that doesn't really matter. Pick what interests you the most.

Geography would fit the most with your subjects, but it wouldn't really matter much. There's some maths and science in geography, and pretty much none in history. But overall I don't personally think it matters how much your choices fit together - pick what you enjoy the most!

Ultimately its up to you what you want to choose and it would be good to do one you think you'd enjoy but also get you where you want to be. Geography is actually also a very valued subject now and covers a range of topics so can be a good one to go for. I don't think id say either is more valued over the other

Do geography. History is nothing to what you learn in ks3. However at the end of the day it is your choice. There are 2 kinds of people - geography lovers and history lovers but as it seems in your case and as well in many others you like both. Don't choose both tho. Advice I can give you is don't choose based on the topics as they sound interesting at glance but you may find it boring. So if you don't genuinely love that subject then don't pick it.

I did both French and History at GCSE. If you have any questions about studying them at GCSE I'll be happy to answer the best I can to help you make a decision, but at the end of the day you have to make the judgement call about which would be best for you

Hii so I don't take Geography but I do take History for GCSE. There is quite a bit of content, and I initially didn't feel that way until finishing the second topic, but because I am interested in the topics, it takes slightly less effort for me to remember the key dates and facts, and they kind of sank in really easily, if you get what I mean. Something I did struggle with was my exam technique, but if you keep practising, then you will see results and it does get easier. My friends take Geography and there is also quite a bit to remember, especially with case studies. I hated Geography at school, but I'm biased because of my teacher lol! I feel Geography is more related to your career, but you also have the sciences for that. At the end of the day, I would suggest taking the subject that you really enjoy and are really good at (having a higher chance of getting a decent grade). Hope this helps!

I'll give a brief overview of my experience with each subject :h:

History is very content heavy and it did take me some time to nail exam technique. However, I found it the content really interesting which made it easier to revise. In terms of learning and remembering content, yes it takes time due to the amount of content there is. With exam practice, timed exam practice is key and it is a essay subject so timings can be tight in the exam. Essay plans are good as well to help understand the structure of how to answer questions. In terms of the subject overall, I personally enjoyed it and I didn't regret picking it.

French I enjoyed as well, however this is probably mostly down to my personal preferences because I enjoy learning languages. Some of the exam questions are difficult, especially with the listening exam. However it does get easier, especially when you start noticing the patterns in the language. Again, I found French easier to revise because I enjoy learning a language in general. It does take practice though as there are some tricky topics, for example I found it challenging to remember some of the tenses.

Hope this gives you an idea on what each subject is like
