Economics A Level decision

I am in Year 11 and so deciding my A levels. I know I want to do double maths and physics, but I’m not sure about the last one. I was wondering if anyone could explain what A level economics is like - the subject matter seems very interesting to me but some people have said that it is quite formulaic and a lot of slightly pointless rote learning. Is this true? I consider myself to be quite good at essay subjects, and I enjoy writing a discursive/argument essay, so is this good for Economics?
The other two choices are English, as I really enjoy analysing literary ideas, and Chemistry, as I like the idea of a Natural Sciences degree and it would supplement my other subjects but there is an opportunity cost (as they say in economics) of not doing any sort of essay subjects.

Hi! I'm a student who did Econ for a term and then unfortunately dropped it, so I can tell you how the first term went. For me it was interesting you start off easy then it gets a bit harder as you go on, but the content covered is actually quite fun once you've got the hang of it. It combines math and English. Economics does have essay questions which are worth 16 ish marks, so it's good that you're able to do that, but overall, econ is a fun subject. Feedback from friends who are doing it, seems to say that they're enjoying it. Ultimately it's up to you what you want to do. The opportunity cost of doing economics is that your losing the ability to do anything using chem like biochem or medicine. However, if you chose to do chem, then the opportunity cost is your sacrificing Economics. I think, with double maths and physics, econ is a better choice since you should find it easier since you're doing double maths. And since you are a good writer, I think it's beneficial to chose econ and then see if you enjoy it or not.
