Edge Hill already giving out specific rooms for September start date?

My cousin is hoping to attend edge hill but can’t make her firm choice yet because she is still waiting for offers from other unis. She joined a freshers gc and there is multiple people saying exactly what room they are moving into in september incl room number. When I started at edge hill in 2019 applications were open until end of July and I didn’t get my exact room until the middle of August. Have they changed how they give out accommodation or is this normal? She is worried she either won’t get a room or won’t get the room she wants.

I know several people who have applied to edge Hill and none of them have been allocated rooms yet

Which group chat has she seen? There seem a few on FB but not always genuine/ official Edge Hill

ive applied for edge hill september and ive already booked my room. it basically just guarantees first years a room if they make it their firm choice but obviously they still should have some rooms left later on in the year for people go through clearing for example and also as not everyone applying will have it as their first choice.

My daughter is going to Edge Hill in September 2025. She made it her firm choice around 20/01/25 and the following day she received an email from the accommodation team inviting her to choose, book and pay the £150 deposit for her room, all of which she has done. She had a few specific rooms in mind and was lucky enough to get one. I think the sooner your cousin can firm up her choice the better, as she will then have access to the Edge Hill accommodation portal where you click and select a specific room . Prior to 20/01/25, my daughter was in a similar position. She hadn't heard from the university she wanted for her insurance choice and this was delaying her firming up Edge Hill. She was worried she wouldn't get one of her chosen rooms, so she just emailed the admissions teams at her insurance choice university and pushed for their decision. Once that came through (the following day I think) she was able to log into Ucas and confirm her firm and insurance choices. As a first year undergraduate, your cousin will be guaranteed a room on campus so she shouldn't worry about not getting something.

Hi there,

That's great to hear your cousin is considering making Edge Hill her firm choice! Booking accommodation is released earlier now to give students the chance to select the room they want but all first years are guaranteed on campus accommodation. Rooms are booked through a portal where students can pick the exact room they would like but there are many blocks of different accommodation across campus to give plenty of different options. Some students will have started to pick their room but there are still plenty of rooms available so there is no rush if she is not ready to make the decision yet!

She will still be able to pick a room from all the different accommodation types if she decides to pick Edge Hill. 😀

Edge Hill will definitely be familiar with the following UCAS business rule, and therefore will expressly not be telling people to Firm or Insure early so they can secure their favoured accommodation.

"Customers must not ask applicants to reply to offers before the normal reply date, regardless of when the offer was made, unless the course starts before 1 September. Requesting early replies in return for benefits (e.g. priority access to accommodation) is not permitted. Even where courses start before 1 September, providers must allow applicants a reasonable period of time to consider their options and respond."
