What I did was find someone who can thoroughly test you. Upon finding this, I would make a summary sheet between 2-4 pages based on everything in the spec for certain topics.
Let's take unit 1.1 for example (WJEC):
The nature of substances and chemical reactions

If you refer to the specification of your exam board, it would tell you the definitions, word for word, of what you NEED to know. I would 100% put these down under key definitions.

There are also certain skills highlighted that you also need to demonstrate and apply knowledge as well as an understanding of...
Here's an example from the WJEC (1.1):
"elements as substances made up of only one type of atom"
There may be little to many of these skills highlighted but i'd definitely make sure you practice (maybe using some past questions).

If you know someone who can test you, make sure they have you know definitions word for word. Also, marking exam paper questions following the mark scheme for said paper.

Also, if you are struggling with some of the difficult questions, your best bet is to make sure you thoroughly know the things that have easily gained marks.

Overall, this helped me get through my chemistry paper for unit 1 with getting around 75/80 which equates to an A* for me in Wales.
