Hey anyone studying at Bayes business school or in City in general, can you tell me about your uni life there! The environment, teaching, employability support etc.

Also are there any opportunities to earn as student ambassadors there? When I went to LSBU, I heard that they had similar opportunities.

Not sure about city in particular but the lecturers on my mathematics and probability/stats modules at Bayes are excellent.

A part-time nightlife job whilst at uni would earn significantly more than a student ambassador job.

Nightlife job? So bartending?
That’s not what I do, but yes that would pay more because you’d have an hourly wage plus tronc/service charge and they’re easier to work around a uni schedule- the busiest days would be Friday and Saturday nights.

I’ll look into it, thanks
Hey! I am a third year LLB student at City St George’s. I can’t tell you about Bayes specifically, but in general there are a lot of employability opportunities. There are often Career Fairs being hosted, etc. I personally attended a couple Law Fairs and they were really insightful, as various law firms participate in them. They also have a Micro-Placement Programme where you can gain professional work experience as a module.

I am also currently a student ambassador, and you get to choose the shifts you are available for.

Hi! I'm currently a final year Psychology student at City so I wouldn't be able to tell you about Bayes specifically but here is what I would say about the university overall:

uni life here is great, I wish I took more advantage of the university's location to travel places because everything is relatively close (either a bus or train ride away)

the environment is really nice and majority of the people here are really friendly

the teaching differs from course to course. But for me, I would say that it's been really good for me for the past 3 years. The lecturers ask us throughout the lectures if we have any questions and if you feel too embarrassed to ask any questions, you can always ask them after the lecture or attend the office hours which are through zoom and/or in person. The office hours are a really good way for us to get feedback on our assignments so we know what to improve on for next time

employability support is excellent. There is a department dedicated to that and they help with various things like looking over CVs, helping you prepare for interviews, helping you figure out what sectors interest you and so much more

there are many opportunities for you to earn money as a student here. For example, as you said, there are student ambassador opportunities and we are frequently sent emails about the available shifts that we can pick up. As well as this, I'm also part of the tutoring team here at City where we can choose to go on placements to different schools (all of which are relatively close to the university) to tutor students on English and/or Maths

I hope this helps and best of luck for the future! 😊

Hey! I’m a second-year student studying Sociology with Psychology and Data Analytics at City University. Currently, I’m doing a 10-week placement with the Greater London Authority as part of my Data Analytics module, which has been a great hands-on experience.

City University also holds regular networking events that give students the chance to connect with a wide range of organisations and professionals from various sectors. These events are helpful for building your networking skills and exploring potential career opportunities.

As for earning opportunities, I’ve been working as a Marketing Ambassador since my first year. In this role, I’ve taken on several responsibilities, like being a Course Ambassador—where I sit in lectures and help prospective students learn about my course, leading campus tours, and assisting at both postgraduate and undergraduate events. I’m also a UniBuddy Ambassador, answering questions from current or prospective students who are interested in my course or looking to join City University. It’s a great way to earn while helping others! ☺️

Would u say the uni helped you secure ur placement?

Yes, my university played a key role in securing my placement as it was an important part of my Data Analytics module. We were given a list of organisations to choose from by our module leader, and we had to explain our reasons for selecting a particular one. Once an organisation got in touch to confirm the placement, all I had to do was complete a brief student placement form to finalise the schedule, ensuring it didn’t clash with my other modules. I hope this helps answer your question! ☺️

I'm currently studying Sociology with Psychology and Data Analytics. In my first year, I took a quantitative methods module in sociology, which grew my interest in data analysis. This led me to join the Q-Step program, where I had the opportunity to take an advanced quantitative methods module in my second year alongside a data analytics course.

As part of my data analytics module, I’m completing a 10-week placement with an organisation of my choice. The placement process was straightforward—we received support from our module leader in creating a strong CV and were given a list of organisations to choose from. Once I secured my placement, the organisation reached out to finalise the details, and I have now officially started. I'm hoping to turn this experience into a summer internship with the same organisation!😊
