Cambridge PhD in Law 2025

Has anyone around here applied for PhD in Law?

I was interviewed on 17 January by two potential supervisors and they didn't seem too enthusiastic about my project, so I am not expecting much.

The waiting is excruciating though.

Hi! I applied too. But I haven't been invited for an interview, I don't know if it's good or bad, just waiting.

My status since December is 'under review by the department'.

I just saw elsewhere that they replied to an applicant, "Your application is currently under review, and we hope to send an update on your application around the beginning to mid-March."

What a long wait this will be.

Yes, I saw the same in a thread on another website. Definitely this is so wrecking!

Any update?

Just got an email from PAO... For a "2025 Applicant Funding Survey" 🙄

Why would they do that? Why not wait until the funding results are out? Or even DP? Gave me a mini-heart attack.

Some news here?

I just realised on another website that one person was moved to DP in early February.

I talked to a professor at Cambridge a week ago and he said it's pretty quiet over there. He hasn't heard anything about PhD admissions.

I think for those who need funding, the chances are now zero.
But admissions will be coming in soon.

About 3 people stated that they received conditional offers from Cambridge yesterday on another forum https://llm-guide.com/board/uk-ireland/oxford-cambridge-lse-phd-in-law-applicants-2025-26-259658/6

What do you mean? are you saying that those who are admitted early in the process get the funding? what if the applicant didn't ask for funding? could you please clarify..

I applied for the PhD in Law, but haven't been invited for an interview, and my status is still "under review".

Reply 13

Me too. And some people already have received their conditional offers.

At this stage, it's very difficult for me to keep hope

I mean all the people who received their conditional offers so far have been contacted by the potential supervisor before they got interviewed, there's some sort of pattern going on here.

I have been contacted by both potential supervisors, but the application remains under review.

I mean that those who are being considered for funding have already heard back from Cambridge.
If you haven't heard back it is very unlikely that you will be offered funding.

But you may still be admitted into the program.

In other news:
I just received a rejection email from Gates Cambridge.

I received an email today that they will be recommending to the Postgraduate Admissions Office that I be considered for a conditional offer of admission to the PhD programme. I also received a separate rejection email from Gates, Cambridge. What are the chances of getting funding from elsewhere at this point?

Congrats!! So far, just I have received a rejection from Gates and nothing about my application.

According to funding, I think Cambridge Trust is a good alternative at this point.
