Circuit Laundry being unreliable again.

Okay so I've recently topped up my circuit laundry card. Go to top up my card and surprise, they've changed the machine. I top my card up somewhere else and just recently They've changed machine.
Thankfully I've topped up the card and can use it on that machine though right?
NO!
Anyone else have this problem? How did you solve it if you don't mind saying. Also I put £20 on that card which is like 2 small spoons trips for me

Hello Haramguez,

Although I haven't had this exact issue myself, I've had issues with circuit laundry before where I was charged for using a washing machine and the washing machine did not work. What I did as a result, was to contact circuit laundry on the phone and after some haggling, I got my money back. I would recommend speaking to your university or contacting circuit laundry.

Hope this helps,

I haven't solved it yet, as they changed the machine payment and app a few days ago without any notification. Moreover, they asked for a fee charge to refund or transfer my outstanding balance to the new app, which is illegal.
I just sent a complaint email and await a response.
Dear
Circuit Laundry Services Ltd,
I am writing to formally complain about your refund policy and recent operational changes, which I believe violate my consumer rights under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
I request a full refund of my outstanding balance without any administration fee and compensation for the inconvenience caused by your unfair practices and lack of communication.
Details of the Issue
I recently contacted your customer service team to request a refund of the outstanding balance on my laundry card/app. Your response outlined the following conditions:
A requirement to provide a reason for the refund.
No refunds for balances under £5.00.
A £2.00 administration fee deducted from the refund.
Additionally, your company recently changed the payment terminal and introduced a new app without notifying customers, causing significant inconvenience. As the building's sole laundry provider, your practices leave residents with no alternative but to tolerate these issues.
Violations of UK Consumer Rights
Your policies and actions breach several provisions of UK consumer protection law:
1. Requirement to Provide a Reason for the Refund Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, consumers have the right to cancel distance contracts (e.g., app-based or online purchases) within 14 days without giving a reason. Requiring me to justify my refund request is an unlawful restriction of this statutory right.
2. No Refunds for Balances Under £5.00
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 (Section 62) mandates that contract terms must be fair and transparent. Your refusal to refund balances under £5.00 is an unfair term, as it denies me access to my money without reasonable justification. This policy disproportionately benefits your company at my expense.
3. £2.00 Administration Fee
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 permits businesses to charge reasonable administrative costs, but these must reflect the actual expense incurred and be transparent. A £2.00 fee- potentially 40% of a £5.00 refund- is excessive and unjustified. It constitutes an unfair term without evidence that this fee reflects your actual costs.
4. Failure to Notify Customers of Changes
Your unannounced payment terminal and app changes have caused confusion and inconvenience. This breaches the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (Section 49), which requires services to be provided with reasonable care and skill. Failing to inform customers of significant operational changes falls short of this standard.
Requested Resolution: I demand the following:
A full refund of my balance without any administration fee.
Compensation for the inconvenience caused by the unnotified changes to your payment system.
A review of your refund policy to ensure compliance with UK consumer protection laws. If I do not receive a satisfactory response within 14 days, I will escalate this matter to Trading Standards and the Consumer Ombudsman. I may also pursue legal action through the Small Claims Court to recover my funds and seek redress for the inconvenience caused. I have attached copies of my transaction receipts) [include Receipt ID or Transaction ID ] and any relevant correspondence as evidence. l await your prompt response.
