Paramedic Apprenticeship

Hello. It’s one of the careers I am considering switching to because I am struggling to find a Job in Computing/ICT. Does anyone know what qualifications would be required to do an apprenticeship as a paramedic? Does anyone also know where the best place would be to find paramedic apprenticeships if you do please post the link here please? Does anyone know any places for volunteering and first getting experience? Also I have epilepsy although am I able to work as a paramedic?

Thank you.

all i searched was paramedic apprenticeship and loads of nhs (region specific) websites came up with loads of opportunities. above is the government website where you can find out more about it and see the training providers that you can apply to. might be worth asking them regarding your epilepsy when you're applying but usually as part of applications they ask about medical conditions so you could also mention it there but i would definitely bring it up to them. This website below may also help you see what you need to apply.

Thank you. It’s definitely a career other than sales or joining the police force that I thought doing if ICT doesn’t work out. I have just emailed a training provider and fingers crossed that they do it although the downside will be the qualifications and requirements. I have already stated and mentioned that I have epilepsy and whether I would be eligible or not. I have A Levels in ICT so again doesn’t really bring relevance. I have my GCSEs in English and Maths.

With it having been nine months since you shared this post, I'm not sure if you're still pursuing this or if your plans have changed.

If Paramedic is the route you want to go down, it would be worth gaining some relevant healthcare experience as this is something that is often required for apprenticeships or degrees in healthcare. You could volunteer with St Johns Ambulance, or do paid work as a Healthcare Assistant.

In terms of qualifications, if what you have isn't accepted, you could complete an Access to Higher Education Diploma in either Health Professions, Nursing, or Paramedic Science. These can be studied online at your own pace.
