leicester software engineering 2025 start

so basically i'm on a gap year and applied to do dentistry but having reflected on my decision, i realised it's just not for me (my personality doesn't really align with what you'd expect a dentist to be, and i was doing it because of pressure from others around me). i was under so much stress and after coming to terms with my choice, i feel so much better with myself. i've always loved computer science and having done some research/conversed with various universities, i want to go into software engineering.

i'm planning to go through ucas extra to apply for software engineering at the uni of leicester (the course is the most appealing and i don't need to move out). all i need to do is write another personal statement which i'll email to them.

has anyone else applied for this course/is currently studying this course on here? i'm kinda worried as i have no clue what the content will be like lol. plus what's the ratio of boys: to girls in the course (i'm a girl) and the cs industry is quite heavily male-dominated. i'm not sure if i would feel comfortable or not but i'll have to suck it up and i'm praying that there are nice people on the course.

furthermore, what do uni timetables look like?
