interrupting studies mid term- advice?

hello! this may be a bit of an unusual post but any help would be appreciated!
unfortunately due to a chronic illness, i've had to interrupt my uni course during the second term (meaning, all being well, I'll return to uni January 2026). this has all been overseen by the uni, but leaves me in a bit of a tricky situation with my current housing as there's no break clause in the contract. ideally, i want to find someone to take over my tenancy for the remaining months (February to July), and was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips on how to best go about this? my plan so far is to advertise on the uni's facebook page, but any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance:smile:

Hi!

I'm sorry to hear you are having to interrupt your studies, I sincerely hope the break does you good and you come back stronger.

Many student housing contracts state that if you wish to leave, as you said, you must find a replacement tenant. Facebook is a great place to start as many students will look there, I recommend also considering places like spare rooms and Facebook pages for taking over tenancies in your city. Furthermore, speak to your university accommodation team, they may have a way of internally advertising your room.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂
