Which Uni do I choose for psychology???

Hii Im going to do a Bsc Psychology course this year, predicted ABB and I've luckily gotten 5/5 conditional offers (Surrey, Royal Holloway, Liverpool,UEA, Leicester), from these i need to now start thinking of a firm and insurance and I really need some help to decide.
I filled out a fee status questionnaire for Liverpool and Royal Holloway so not sure of the fees yet but I will most likely be paying international fees in all the Universities so I'm also worried about the overall costs. Right now im really considering Surrey , Liverpool and UEA for my top choice.
Surrey- 4 years (placement course) for AAB £26k tuition fee a year, ranked quite high for psych
Liverpool - 3 years course for ABB £29k a year (if overseas confirmed), Is the Russell Group name really worth the high price tag?
UEA- 3 years for ABB, £18k a year with scholarship, not as highly ranked compared to surrey
I'd really like to hear from current students or just anyone who knows about these universities and cities because I haven't visited in person yet (I will go to the offer holder days soon) I will be pursuing a Masters degree so does the undergrad Uni matter a lot in the future??
Thank you for reading this long post I'd appreciate any help!

In your case the university where you study for undergrad will not matter for Psychology. Getting a 1st (or a 2.1 at least) is all that matters to enhance your prospects for when you apply for your masters.

Forget rankings. Go where you think you will be happiest albeit within your budget. The locations of the 5 universities are very different ranging from a very large city (Liverpool) to a small town (Royal Holloway). It depends what type of life you want when you are studying and how you intend to spend your free time. Probably best to research cost of accommodation as it can differ quite drastically.

not sure if this will be helpful but have you tried visiting The Guardian website?

type in the course that you want to do and it gives you a ranked list of universities which include links into their website and further info which might help you find what your looking for x

Congrats on your offers! I’ve applied for psychology this year too.
They’re all excellent choices, I think I’d find it hard to choose without visiting. Have you looked on YouTube? Lots of content on there from past and current students plus tours too.

I see, I was worried that my undergrad degree might affect my postgrad uni chances idk but its true that doing well is what matters most. I think I might wait it out until I get the local fees for PG to then worry about russell groups/rankings.Thank you!!

There are some great posts here already, and you have a nice selection there, I wish you the best of luck. Always choose a course which is accredited by the British Psychological Society.

If any of the posters are interested in either a blended learning or 100% online option for Psychology, Arden University's programs are fully accredited by the BPS and eligible for Student Finance England funding.

There are study centre's in Manchester, Birmingham and London, and they have the best virtual learning environment I have come across (working in F.E and H.E myself for over 10 years) with easy access to journals. I actually did my MSc Psychology there and it has really helped shape my career in education

Hey there 😁

Huge congratulations on your offers! This is an amazing achievement, and you should be so proud of yourself! 🙌

When making your final choice, it's essential to go with what truly aligns with your preferences. I can see you're already weighing factors like tuition fee, which is great! 🌍 I’d also suggest looking into career-related opportunities like placements, internships, volunteering, and student exchange programmes. These experiences will be invaluable when stepping into the job market! 🚀

As for the Russell Group, personally, I wouldn’t worry too much about that. What really matters is that the course has BPS accreditation, especially if your goal is to pursue a Master's Degree 🧠

If you feel like you don’t have the full picture of both universities, I’d highly recommend attending open days. They’ll give you a much clearer sense of not just the institutions but also the cities themselves 🌆 Experiencing the atmosphere firsthand can make it much easier to envision where you see yourself thriving.

Wishing you the best in making this exciting decision!

I hope it will be helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,

Julia

Hello!

It sounds like you are really doing a deep dive into the factors which might influence your choice, it is great to see

I would differently attend any open days be they on site or as back up virtual, as there are aspects of a setting which really can't be conveyed in previous student's accounts or information from the Office for Students.

I see a few other posters are still a little unsure about their options. Arden University, where I did my MSc (conversion) have some great psychology courses. They are fully accredited by the British Psychological Society, are eligible for student loans, and there is the option of both 100% learning online, or blended learning in centres around London, Leeds Manchester and Birmingham
