Having a good routine is key really.
Revising: make a timetable with a small number of subjects you plan to revise each day for a set amount of time (this could be 2 subjects for 30 mins each) then stick to it.
Homework: prioritise doing the tasks with the earliest deadlines. For some homework you can kinda count it as revision but make sure youre still revising outside of doing homework.
Exercise and hobbies: joining a club or doing this with someone else can really help so you dont just forget about it. You can use hobbies as a reward for revision too. Also i have a rule where i dont do school work past half 8 at night so that’s when i get my hobbies in!
Sleep: always go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time so you know youre not sleep deprived.

Hi @weap ,

Balancing your school work and hobbies can be difficult, however as the other reply stated, having a good routine is essential.

I recommend making a revision timetable. This could be a one or two week rotation. You should work out which subjects you want to revise each day, for how long, what revision technique and what topics within your subjects. Having this broken down makes it a lot easier to follow and stick to.

I also recommend making sure your revision techniques are effective by figuring out what exactly works for you, this could be revision cards, mind maps, teaching family/friends, etc. If you want to explore this further, look into visual, auditory and kinaesthetic revision techniques.

By using effective revision techniques to maximise your potential, alongside following a revision timetable, you can dedicate spare time to your own interests. I recommend MINIMUM having 1 day a week of doing no revision. It's extremely important to let your brain relax to avoid burn out.

Here is an example:
Monday after school:

4:00pm - Begin revising Geography - Natural disaster revision cards
4:30pm - 10 minute break
4:40pm - 2 exam questions
5:00pm - Revise Psychology - case study mind map
5:20pm - 1 essay question
5:50pm - Relax.

That's just a very brief example, but sticking to a routine will make your day more organised and leave you with more free time. Remember, having breaks is important!

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (Business and Management)
