What happens if you get a low UCAT score?

Title - also, would you have to wait till next year to resit? And what other main fields could you delve into with Bio, Chem & Maths A-Levels?

Yes, you have to wait until the next year to resit / reapply.

Look at Pharmacy as an alternative career, or Pharmacology.
Pharmacy (MPharm) - Study - Cardiff University

yes you’d have to wait till next year if you want to resit, but a low ucat score isn’t the end of the world. It’s important to apply strategically

I didn’t apply for medicine but I did apply for dentistry with a ucat score that’s below average and I still managed to get two interviews! if you have a low ucat make sure to apply to unis that don’t prioritise it that much, or that take a holistic approach towards your application

1.

You could choose to pick a uni which doesn't focus a lot on ucat. SO you'd need to have strong GCSEs.

2.

Apply for med with foundation year. Only thing is you need to be contextual

3.

Go through the Postgrad route

4.

Take a gap year and reapply

One option would be to go on the nhs careers website-there’s a good quiz that will help you

Getting into medicine is hard and stressful. Studying medicine is hard and stressful. Being a doctor is hard and stressful. If you are even mildly tempted by other careers then you should definitely look into them and consider them thoughtfully. Im not saying other careers don’t have difficulties and stress but they are likely to have less of them, plus there’s no night shifts (and no ucat 😂) so a better work/life balance! Eg: Podiatry? Orthoptics? Pharmacy? Optometry? Physiotherapy?
