Oxford Astrophoria Foundation Year Law (2025)

Hello, this page is for discussion relating to 2025 Entry of the Oxford Astrophoria Foundation Year in Law.
I was hoping to gage how many applicants there are this year!

Feel free to introduce yourselves (predicted grades/ other university applications/ how you meet the criteria/ LNAT or no LNAT sat/ supercurriculars, work experience or wider reading done to strengthen your application and interview prospects/ e.t.c.).

Hello, currently also applied to the foundation year course.
Anyone know when the interview selections will be announced?

I have no clue as to when, but I do know for sure that they are processing some of the applications right now.

Hi,

Someone said in another thread that Oxford comes back on the 27th April so I'd say it's likely it'll be after then.

Oxford's Trinity term this year begins on 23 April, and Full Term (when the undergraduates have to be in residence) begins on 27 April, but Oxford does not shut down during the vacations. The academic staff work year round, so you might hear before 27 April. Good luck to you all.

Gosh I hope we all hear soon.

Has anyone heard back and if so would you mind sharing your stats please

I haven’t heard back. I am very curious to know: why is it that most people ask for stats? I’m not trying to be judgemental - I’m genuinely curious.

Good luck hope you get in. I was wondering about stats as I am thinking of taking gap year to apply to foundation course as i only just realised i was eligible. My GCSEs were low due to issues i had within secondary so I just wanted to know whether it was worth a try to apply

Ohh, okay! I applied for law. What about you? I applied with 7 A*s, 3 As, 2Bs, 1 distinction in Further Maths and other level 2 qualifications that were Equality and Diversity, and Workskills. I am predicted 4 A*s and an A*. I am definitely not getting 4 A*s - I am predicting myself A*BBB, hence why I applied. I have been in need of significant help, and when I came across this foundation year, I felt so lucky. For my personal statement, I had gone to 2 of the Oxford summer schools including UNIQ, and I think that definitely helped me. Is there anything else that will help you?

Yeah I applied to law aswell !! Though i was not as lucky to find out about all these options and did not receive any help so I am only just realising now and wondering if I should take a gap year. I have been considering for while, as it has been on the back of my mind but i don’t know 100%. But wow well done with your profile it is so strong if I take gap year I will definitely try and apply UNIQ. Thank you so much. I hope you get in

Nope, but mine are five 9's, 8, 7, 6, 5 + predicted A*AB for A Levels (not sure if I will achieve it). I meet several criteria: low socio-economic background (i.e. FSM + 16-19 Bursary), mental health, late SEN diagnosed (audhd), CIN (i.e. social services involvement). I also technically did meet the Young Carer category before.

Honestly, I'd say it's not easy as in like you walk in and the questions are stuff you've covered before, but it's not hard as in they expect you to write an essay on some random legal case like an undergraduate.

It's challenging yes, and I say that because it requires you to look inwards for answers, school doesn't teach us necessarily how to think as much as what to think, and the interview is them prodding how you think: can you apply new information to different situations and give the reasoning to support your conclusion?

Hope that helps x.

Wow. That sounds really difficult to be honest. Thanks so much for your help though x
