a level bio help

i got my november mocks back and i’ve been stuck on b in biology and really want an a, any tips for revision? i especially struggle with application and maths questions
Hello 👋
As someone who did biology in my IGCSEs and still absolutely love 💜the subject, I totally understand the B to A grade challenge, It often time comes down to just a few marks lost on seemingly simple questions.
Here's what I found helpful:

Biology Revision Tips for A-Grade Success:king1:

1. Master the Maths Elements:
· Practice calculations regularly using past paper questions (although the questions may change the concept doesn’t and with practice you’ll easily spot similar patterns)
· Create a formula sheet for quick reference (Knowing the appropriate formula is the first step to any solution)
· Focus on units and conversions (the wrong units or poor conversion is a sure way to lose little marks here and there)
· Double-check your workings every time (Self explanatory)

2. Application Questions Strategy
· Break down the question into smaller parts.
· Highlight key scientific terms in the question.
· Practice explaining concepts in your own words.
· Use mnemonics for complex processes.

3. Active Revision Techniques
· Draw and label diagrams from memory.
· Create mind maps for each topic.
· Teach concepts to others or talk yourself through the processes.
· Use past paper questions daily.
· try the "PEEL" method:
Point - Make your main point, Evidence - Use scientific facts, Explain - Link to the question Link - Connect to wider biology concepts.

Remember, consistent practice with past papers is key - focus especially on those application and maths questions you find challenging. You've already got a solid B, so you're not far from that A! Keep going. 🎉

Make sure you're using the mark schemes to check your answers and keep a log of the types of questions you commonly lose marks on. This will help you identify patterns and improve strategically.
