Hello @Anonymous#1

In terms of employability for our Bsc Economics & Finance at Lancaster we are rated 4th for graduate prospects in Accounting & Finance in The Guardian University Guide, and 9th for Economics in The Guardian University Guide. Although I am not a student under the Management School, I have heard some really great things about their employability support team who help you in your journey when it comes to securing graduate schemes or internships. Bristol is a Russel Group uni which some employers may look for but I honestly don't think it has much of an impact - Lancaster is not a part of Russel Group but consistently outperforms the majority of university with this accreditation. If you would like to ask a current student studying your course and get their perspective on employability click HERE where you can ask them any questions.

Or if you have any further questions about Lancaster, please feel free to respond and one of our ambassadors will get back to you as soon as possible!

Thank you,
Taylor (Lancaster Uni Student Ambassador).

Thank you. Can you also comment on catered accommodation. Is the meal cost already included in the catered accommodation or to be paid separately? Is there Chinese food available?
Hello Anonymous,

Catered accommodation would cover meals at specific outlets, the link is here: https://portal.lancaster.ac.uk/ask/campus/living-in-university-accommodation/catered-accommodation/

I am not 100% sure how much of each meal/what items are covered under catered accommodation and would recommend emailing [email protected] .

I did find some example menus online:
The Marketplace: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/eat/outlets/the-marketplace/index.php#friday-sample-menu-596475-4
Barker's: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/eat/outlets/barkers/#hot-signature-toasted-sandwiches-586885-0

There is also a dining scheme called Freedom Eats which appears to offer more outlet options than Catered Accommodation, if you're interested it's here: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/eat/discounts/freedom/

While I'm not sure if other outlets have Chinese food, we do have a Chinese restaurant called Guan Zi in the George Fox building and there's Wok Iin on Edward Roberts Court, their menus can be found on Google Maps. These don't appear to be a participating outlet of either schemes, but I've found the food at both places quite nice.

Hope this helped! Do feel free to drop another message or contact the Catering Team at [email protected] !

Are you currently doing economics at bristol. They don't seem to be responsive in a lot of platforms. I wonder how much support they extend to current and prospective students? Would you be able to share some insights?

Hi no I'm at Warwick but Bristol was my second choice, superb school. Haven't heard much from Lancaster but I assume it's alright, but Bristol is world class

Hi, Bristol is a Russell Group university and generally ranks higher in global league tables. Lancaster is also has a strong reputation for business and economics. Bristol may have a higher representation in elite firms (e.g., Goldman Sachs, McKinsey) due to its brand and alumni network. Lancaster performs well for accounting (Big 4), corporate finance, and regional finance roles. For cost of living in the two, Lancaster is generally cheaper than Bristol.
