help! a level art/ critical and contextual studies

im in year 13 and doing eduqas a level art craft and design

so far my entire component one has been fine art/craft based, however for the 40% exam component im looking to chose the "critical and contextual studies" option. i will be studying history of art at uni this year so i thought this would be helpful, and hopefully less time consuming than fine art coursework.

however no one at my school has ever selected this option, and (other than the exam board) i can't find any information online. thinking of writing an essay or making a gallery booklet... but still vv confused

if anyone has done this a level/knows anything about it pls lmk!! id love to hear what ppl have done (and i need an A* for uni lol)

Hi @maiisswag

I studied A-level art craft and design with AQA not Eduqas with an A* but wanted to offer any advice that could be helpful!

Totally understand that the route you want to choose is because it is more beneficial to you with what course you have chosen to study at A-level. Especially as you are already interested in this and feel passionate towards this route.

Even though no one in your school has chosen this option before, your teachers would have training on all routes that are available for anyone who wants to take this route or advise you to choose the other option so that they can support you better. I would definitely express your concern with them so that you aware of what decisions you should make before you carry on with the project but wish you have chosen the other route later on.

Hopefully others who are in the shame shoes as you will be able to offer some advice to you!

I hope this helped and that it all works out in the end- good luck!
