what is the maximum postgraduate loan?

My course which starts in september 2025, in ucl costs 19,000, however the maximum loan amount available for postgraduate courses is 12,000. does anyone know if this is the maximum or can you request more if your course is more expensive?

If you mean the postgraduate masters loan, then the maximum loan is currently £12,471 for the course. You can't ask for more. If your course runs over two years, you will receive half the amount each year.

Normally with Masters, you are expected to self fund some of it (either get a job or save some of your funding from previous years from your BSc). That or get funding from an external source I.e parents.

When I left my BSc, I worked for several years in industry before attending my Masters course, as did others I worked with so they could fund their Masters. That being said, I studied outside of London and I received a tuition reduction (total tuition fee was just under £7k) due to alumni discount (25%).

EDIT:
Put in wrong figure.
