Is Reading University good for Law

My grades aren’t looking the greatest and I’ve put my assurance as Law with Foundation at Reading. I’m not from the area and want to know about the course and the social aspect of Reading. Does anyone have any personal experiences with it?

I have given some guest lectures at Reading and one of my colleagues in chambers has a Chair there. I think that it's a good place.

You're welcome. My interactions with law students at Reading have indicated to me that the students are bright, and engaged with the subject.

Reading is a nondescript town, a victim of ugly developments in the 60s and 70s, but the university campus is green and spacious. It has a few C19 buildings, and mainly late C20/C21 buildings. The Berkshire countryside is attractive, and London is not far away.

Sign up hasn't opened yet, but Reading held a Law Open Day last year (in the spring) and the professors and students were so lovely. This is the form to register interest:

Hi @hyejuu

I hope you're well.

I don't do the course unfortunately so can't offer much insight about that, but can share my experiences with the area. It has a busy town centre with a huge number of shops and restaurants, with plenty of things to do, but the campus itself is very green and scenic. The transport links are really good within Reading, but also it is really close to London and easy to get there. There is lots to do at the uni, with plenty of societies and activities.

Hi @hyejuu
I hope you are well!
First of all, I’m glad to hear you are considering studying at Reading University, and second, it’s great that you are trying to familiarise yourself with the university and your course as university is a big step forward from school.
I, like my co-ambassador Hattie, am not a Law student, but hopefully I can give you an insight into what it's like studying here at Reading and direct you to where you could get the information you need.
Campus life and location:
Reading uni has a beautiful green campus with lots of open spaces, a garden, a lake (with baby ducks and goslings!), and plenty of study spots and cafes. There’s always something happening, from food festivals to society events, with my personal favourite being the Food market Thursdays, serving delicious food from lots of different countries.
Furthermore, there are over 100 societies here at Reading University, so you can be sure there is something for everyone. You can find out more via this this: https://readingsu.co.uk/student-opportunities
Also, Reading is well-connected as it’s only about 30 minutes by train to London, which is great if you would like to visit the capital often. Plus, the uni is only a short walk or bus ride to the beautiful Reading town centre, which is super convenient.
Law course:
Since I am not a law student, I do not have any personal experiences with the Law with foundation course at Reading uni, but I can however, direct you to our University of Reading ‘Chat to our Students' platform, where you can speak to current Law students and hopefully get the insight you need. You can find the link here: https://www.reading.ac.uk/about/chat-to-our-students
Best of luck with your exams, and feel free to ask if you have any further questions about Reading university!

Sincerely,
Safa
