Advice!?

I have to choose between Strathclyde, Aberdeen and Glasgow Cali uni for Law. I know that Law courses are better for job opportunities with better known schools. I am closer to Strathclyde and Glasgow Cali but I really don't like the Law course, the way it is structured and a lecturer at Strathclyde but know it is a well known school so will look good when I finish the degree, but I don't think I will like that course at all if I choose that uni. Glasgow Cali is quite close and I haven't went to see it yet but don't think it is the best school for Law. I really love Aberdeen but I will have to stay in the accommodation for it and therefore don't know if it is worth it but I truly love most things about it. I really need help or recommendations on what to do!

from the start of rule out gcu since you have better uni options, strathclyde is ranked higher on the rankings but only one place infront of aberdeen. I’d make a pros and cons list and even wait until offer holder days to get more information. Aberdeen is a nice looking and respected uni and strath is in the city centre and respected as well so both are really good options, i’d just rule out gcu for now tbh.

Hello,

The most important thing I think when choosing a university to study at, is whether you are happy there. To decide this, you need to think about the course itself, so the content, does it cover the modules that you are interested in learning about? Obviously there may be the odd aspect of content you find a bit dull, but consider it overall. Next, how about the teaching style? Does it suit how you best learn? I read you didn’t like a lecturer at Strathclyde, but what about everything else? Does the course really interest you and how many lectures and seminars does he lead? Ie will you be taught by him much? What about assessment? Is it mainly coursework or exams and does one suit your assessment style better than any of the others?

Next take into consideration the university itself. How do your choices compare in terms of the facilities that they provide for students, the student support available and the societies and clubs you could join?

What about the area? Do you need to be close to home to commute or would you prefer to be away? If so, what about the larger town and city and if you rely on public transport is there a good network of links?

I wouldn’t choose a university purely based on league tables and kudos, you need to study at an institution that is right for you, if you don’t enjoy it you will not do yourself justice and get the best grades you could otherwise achieve. Have you been able to go to an Open Day? These days can be brilliant in helping you to choose as you can gain a real insight into the university, the law department and its staff and gain an overall feel for the university.

I hope this helps, good luck with your decision
