Regret choosing my local University

Me and my family moved 3 years ago. Honestly, even after 3 years I still want to move. It’s small, quiet and I have always wanted to move.

The issue is, I could have moved this year since I am going to university this September , but my mum was extremely against it because of hiw expensive it is. This led to me accepting unconditional offer for my local university and I am starting to regret because I don’t know if I can handle another 4 years here. I would be living at gome whilst attending university, which isn’t what I want but it’s a good financial move.

I recently applied for merchant navy cadetship as well, since in all honesty, I just wanr the experience of living away and this may be my only hope since I have already accepted my uni choice and can’t change it.

Interested in Engineering, moving away from parents, but got no money. Mym said she would not speak to me if I take a loan sonce it is unecessary debt. Don’t want that since our relationship is good.

In short: I don’t like where I live but can’t afford to move away for uni. Just stay put for 4 years and move after or try and get away now?

Hi 👋

I'm sorry to hear that you regret staying at your local university. If you're unhappy with the path you've taken, it may be worth considering a degree apprenticeship.

By studying via this route, you can undertake a degree and get paid work experience alongside your studies.

As you've already started a course, I don't know whether there would be any financial implications. It's something you would need to look into.

Through a degree apprenticeship, you can gain experience of living away from home while keeping your financial burden to a minimum, which may give your family peace of mind.
