Young people at the Open University

Hi everyone,

After starting my degree at Reading uni, I soon came to realise that living away from home and attending in-person university would not work with my chronic illness. I've now started at the Open University doing the same degree and was wondering if there's anyone else around my age studying with the OU (I'm 19), as on the student forums I can see it's mainly people quite a lot older.

I'm 18 and I'm studying the CertHE Open (Specialising in Maths and Stats) with the OU, what are you studying?

I am 24, so slightly older but I started my degree a few years ago. I would advise joining the Young Students Club: https://www.oustudents.com/organisation/6364/

Its just a facebook group really - might meet some people who live near you.

Good afternoon,

I am really sorry you felt you couldn't be at university anymore, and I hope your new Open university is great and will be able to help you get through this challenging time. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out and we will be able to answer you.

All the best,
Ella
