Prefect- Medicine application

Does being a prefect really improve your personal statement/ give you an upper hand in medicine applications? I'm not sure whether I should apply for prefect because I don 't know how beneficial it will be for me- and I'm lowkey worringing about it. I'm in year 12 and I'm starting hospital volunteering this week, am in a netball club, a member of St John's Cadets, attend my schools medsoc, and potentially doing the Cambrigde Chemistry Challenge. Is being a prefect really worth it or should I focus on my studies? Thanks in advance!!!

No.
Mainly because not everyone goes to the sort of school that has 'prefects' - and there is no evidence that this makes anyone a better doctor.

Focus on your A levels, and getting health/care experience - that will actually improve your application.

I would say no because it’s not what experiences you have done but the skills you can say you have gained from them and your reflection on those experiences that helps and you have so many different things that you can talk about with all of your experiences so if it’ll effect your grades and studying it’s probably not something you need x
