Student Finance Help

I have gone through a student finance calculator to
prepare for going to uni this September. I have been
sofa surfing for 6 months now and will be until 1
go to University. Is it correct that under the annual
household income section I put £0?
Would I need to provide any proof of this? If so what
kind of proof would be needed?

How old are you?

Are you sofa surfing because you are irreconcilably estranged from your parents?

I am 18
I don't know if it would he classed as this as it has only been about 7 months. Additionally, the only person who I could have as proof of this would be an Assistant Psychologist who helped with my treatment regarding an eating disorder I had. (However I have since been discharged)

Irreconcilably estranged doesn’t matter how long it’s been - just that you aren’t in contact and don’t expect that to change.

Are you currently in college/sixth form? If so then a teacher should be able to provide a letter confirming that you’re estranged. SFE will need this evidence so that they class you as independent and not part of your parents household.
Also have you registered with your local council as homeless/sofa surfing? They should also be able to provide evidence - and may be able to help you access other support even if they can’t help with housing in the short term.

I took a gap year, so I am not in any schools at the moment.

I will try all this, thank you
