I don't think such a course exists at undergraduate level, everything seems to be less than 10 to 1 at Cambridge anyway: http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/statistics/subjects.html

Statistics really mean very little at the end of the day. It's your intellectual calibre compared to that of others
Well, my school gives out very low predicted grades, other students I've talked to say their school gives out AAA predictions to anyone who needs them. And cambridge said the biggest factor in me being rejected was my predicted grades. So I could say me. But hey, reapplied this year, and I'm pretty hopeful.
Yeah I know this genius. Had a horrible interview for Law (despite him being very outgoing). In the summer, he got 6 full marks out of 9 exams. He's trying again for Oxford this year.
T-o dore
ye my friend for ppe - 10A*, 5As, 4As at a level and did loads of work experience, extra curriculars, really interesting, lovely person etcetc.

She went out the night before the interview so unsurprosingly she was probably a bit drowsy

just gettin 4 or 5A's doesnt mean you SHOULD get into oxbridge, if so then thousands of extra people a year probably SHOULD get into oxbridge.

alot of its how you perform at interview, if they think they can teach you etc

Very true.

Anyway, my friend - got an offer, but missed it because she didn't get what she needed in her STEP This is for Cambridge.

Not getting my STEP grades will go down as my biggest failing.

Still, 15 GCSEs?! Which ones?! :s-smilie:
Me!! :ninja:

Alas, as much as I'm currently at Manchester University, I've applied to start at Cambridge this year; result pending...

I didn't know you could do that!

You can, it's not so easy though. You need full support of your current university -- which may not be so simple to obtain as it sounds, because you leaving would most likely have a negative financial effect on the university. Also, funding may not be given for the extra year (though it may -- depends on the whim of your LEA).

Some courses at the LSE are 25:1 or greater...

I have met some geniuses at LSE who I think would be well suited at Oxbridge, but during my cycle and people I knew, they were all talented enough to do well there, but they weren't exceptional enough for me to think that they definitely deserved an offer. On the flip side, I know people who I think, did/do they deserve offers? I think all applicants at some level are decent enough for getting accepted, but some people who get in, are sometimes either lucky on the day, or click with tutors where others just don't.

Well if they didn't get in, then surely they 'shouldn't have got in?' Or am i just being a prick?

ye sorry not very clear. She got 10A* at gcse, 5 a's at AS and 4 a's at A-level

lol but i do know a guy who got 15A*
A girl in my secondary school achieved 13 A*s at GCSE and four As at A Level and she was rejected from Oxford without an interview, but was accepted into Cambridge.
i have a friend who got rejecte without interview for maths, which i really didn't expect. he's the kind of guy who spends his spare time studying maths for fun and working out proofs just for kicks. everything comes so easily to him, he got 5 As at AS and he's so passionate about the subject.
hum ho :frown:

No, you're just being factually inaccurate.

The question does not refer to what did happen, but what one would have liked to have happened. The two do not have to be equivalent.

Reapplied?

With physics I think loads of people thought they could blag the entrance exam and didn't really revise. Only 1 out of the 5 people who applied at my school for physics got an interview.
