How to find work experience in computer science?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Year 12 student looking for work experience in computer science from July 7–10, 2025, as part of my school program. I have a strong interest in programming and automation, and I’ve worked on personal projects like a Raspberry Pi script to automate my blinds based on my alarm. I’m also studying A-level Computer Science, Further Maths, and Physics and taking part in programs like STEM Smart and Future Leaders UK.

I’m particularly interested in software development, cybersecurity, or data science, but I’m open to any opportunities where I can learn more about the field. If you know of any companies or organizations that offer placements (especially in London or remote), I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Nuffield offer experience placements in STEM sectors. You basically apply and if you're shortlisted your application is sent out to all available providers. This means that there's not an 100% chance of getting a CS work experience but it's worth a shot anyway. Also I'm not too sure that it will fall on your specific dates but I think most of them are supposed to be in the holidays so if that isn't something you mind then you should go for it. https://www.stem.org.uk/placements

Springpod also offer a lot of online work experience (I did a couple CS ones a few years ago and I'm sure that they'll still have a decent range) and I'm pretty sure that most of them are self paced. https://www.springpod.com
