Hi, what would you say is the most effective form of note taking for well-developed essays in economics
Hi, I'm going to assume 2 things with your question:
1. You do AQA A Level Economics 2. You are asking about revision for essay writing rather than revision for content memorisation.
I think there are a couple effective ways that you could take notes for well-developed essays in economics rather than just one, for example if you find a question, and write detailed bullet points of your chains of analysis, you both save time (not having to write the full essay) whilst also showing yourself that you can identify the step by step process of an essay. in doing this you can build up to a sound understanding and get top marks.
- Alongside this, I'd also be doing active recall (sometimes of basic content, other times recalling a whole essay plan) -> this can be either written or spoken it doesn't really matter so long as you understand what you're saying and can critique it.

Hey, I struggle with essay writing and was wondering if you could help

I'd highly recommend planning a brief structure for your essay before planning the evaluation (for and against). In my Econ exam for example (2023) there was an essay on privatisation which I planned out a brief structure for before going through the arguments for and against privatisation which I had memorised before my exam. So to summarise I'd recommend memorising the evaluation points for and against for the different essays that can come up and by the time you get into the exam you will have already memorised the evaluation so it's just a case of getting words to paper. I got 25/25 on that privatisation essay so clearly it worked quite well for myself and hopefully does for you too 🙂
