socks changing

How many times does everyone change their socks?
Because I thought 3-4 days was normal but apparently it's disgusting and I don't see why.

FYI, I only change them when I know I've been sweating or I've been walking around alot. I'm not going to change socks just because I went to do a 30 minute shop.

Is this bad? Because my family does this too and I've grown up doing this. Is this just another stupid tiktok thing.

Change your socks every day, just as you should change underwear. It is the bacteria living on your feet that turns the sweat into a smelly mess that makes your feet smell (albeit there is likely a specific gene that makes some people have particularly bad smelly feet) Wash your feet (& your pits) with soap and water every day if possible or at least every other day. Wash between your toes, and dry your feet carefully. That way you can avoid athletes foot and other fungal problems associated with hot sweaty feet. Washing your feet is really important if you are diabetic or have poor blood supply to your feet. A small cut or blister can quickly turn into a major infection.
It's normal to change socks and pants every day.

3-4 days is insane. every day is normal, not a 'tiktok thing'

I know people that change their socks less often than once a week. And they have never had an issue with athletes foot, fungal infections, bacterial issues etc.

Original poster: change your socks us often or as unoften as you want. It's your feet, your socks. Do what's best for you. And don't spare a 2nd thought as to what other people do. They can do as they wish and you can do as you wish.

The frequency of you changing your socks is totally unimportant from a health point of view - when compared to what you eat and drink.
You'll probably find that many of the people that are quick to judge you or criticise you for changing your socks once every 3 or 4 days are the sort of people that have diets that are far more damaging to their health than if they changed their socks once per year.

But that's human nature. To make decisions on the basis of emotions or inertia. Instead of pure logic.
As well as it being human nature to try take the splinter out of one's neighbour's eye whilst having a plank in one's own.

2 days is one thing and one that I'm guilty of, but 4 days? nah your socks are getting greasy, smelly and breeding stuff at that point.

See, thank you for a normal reply. I obviously change them if I went out the whole day or went to the gym but if I stayed at home with some slippers on, I never found it that disgusting.
Also the diet thing is so true, thank you.

I know people are saying thats disgusting but its not. They either have a weak stomach or over exaggerating it in their mind. Also bare in mind that many people will be hypocrites because many of them will either drink alcohol, sweets, smoke, vape or spend 24/7 on social media - all those things damage their health yet they don't bat an eye. They only find you're scenario disgusting because they personally cant relate.

I think you're doing fine - yes change them when you know your dirty. I wear the same hoodie for 3-4 days straight because I'm at home too - it literally doesnt matter because you're at home.

You think your slippers aren't absorbing sweat and dead skin cells from your 4 day old socks?

This is where people and clothes smelling bad comes from generally, its the bacteria which 100% love sweaty unwashed socks.

Maybe the original poster eats plenty of fenugreek and has sweat that smells of maple syrup?

Maybe the people that change their socks every day eat plenty of meat and have relatively unpleasant smelling sweat?
