Hi,
Each year you apply you can only apply with one personal statement. So you would have to tailor it towards medicine if you want to apply for that. You have 5 options to apply for each year, and up to 4 of those can be medical courses. You can pick Engineering as your fifth option. Or you can apply for less medicine courses - although i would recommend applying to 4 if you really want to do medicine to maximise your chances.
So, you could put engineering as your fifth option, but I would choose a university that does not look at the personal statements, because it will be tailored to medicine and they would be less likely to pick you - unless perhaps it is a medically related course such as biomedical engineering.
I hope that makes sense,
Evie (final year medic at UoS)

You have only 4 Medicine choices - your 5th UCAS course choice must be for a different subject.

Most Med applicants would choose a Med related subject for the additional choice - Biochem, Biomed, Pharmacy etc - but you dont have to. You do need to check with the Uni where you intend to apply for Engineering, IF they will accept an application from a Med applicant and if they would allow you to submit a separate PS directly to that University - many very competitive Engineering courses won't.
