Student Finance

Hi, I am trying to research how to apply to student finance as I want to plan for my uni life. However, I am a bit confused about my situation.

I have dual citizenship, one for the UK (England) and one for another. I wasn't born in the UK, but I moved to England in the summer of 2021 with my mum. My dad didn't move with us due to his work and is still living abroad. He is the only one who is working in my family. I completed my GCSE here and going to finish 4 A levels in this summer.

As I went through different documents about the eligibility for loans, I saw they would be assets on my household income, would they consider my dad's income, as he would send money to us but he isn't living with us. if not, there would be no household income at all in my house in the UK.

I am so confused about my situation now, could anyone give me any advice? would I be able to apply for any loans or bursaries? I need the money support as my parents are not going to help me with my fees or bills for uni.

Hi Lattae, what is your current status at present? You advised of your dual citizenship, do you hold any other status?
As we take into consideration the total household income, we would consider both parents income as part of the application process. As for bursaries, you would have to speak to your university in relation to this as Student Finance England doe not provide any support for this product. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi, what do you mean by status here? I have 2 passports, one for a British passport and one from where I was born, that's all I have.

Hi there. Where were you living before moving to the UK? When are you looking to start your course? Thanks, Leah.

Thank you. I've enclosed a link regarding eligibility - just to determine this through answering the questions. https://www.gov.uk/check-what-undergraduate-student-finance-you-can-apply-for-depending-on-your-nationality-and-residency

Thanks, Jason
