bath v georgetown

I have received offers from both the University of Bath and Georgetown University. i'm finding it really difficult to settle on one, which would you all consider to be better?

Gtown has a phenomenal location if you're looking to do a humanity or social science. Theyve got tons of undergrad research and youll be highly competitive for internships on Capital Hill.
That said, it's extremeley expensive for international students unless youre on some scholarship, no university degree is worth that debt. Bath is also the better choice if youre studying outside of business/polysci/econ/law/IR.

Hi there,

Goodness, what a comparison! Huge congratulations on those offers.

I would ask yourself...

Which course you think you would enjoy more - which has the content you would enjoy most which will help you get to where you want to be in future?

What about placements? Here at Bath we offer placements with the huge majority of courses which will make your graduate CV shine to potential employers as well as giving you the chance do something fun and different for a year. You could even go abroad to do this placement - I had friends who went to America! - if you wanted to travel as part of your studies.

How much will it cost to live and study there (England = home student, can take a out a student loan and stay closer to family VS America = international student, high cost of living)

Where do you feel more at home? Washington DC is a humongous, bustling city with a very fast pace of life; and by comparison Bath is a smaller town, still with a lot going on but much slower in pace and less built up. Where do you want to be, which would give you what you want out of uni and life?

I would also consider safety. Bath has been recognised as the second safest city in the UK. Although Georgetown is an affluent place bigger cities tend to be more overwhelming and have higher crime rates on average.

If I were in your position I would think logistically and try to go for the more budget-friendly option so I could save for the future, however that being said this is your future and you are the best judge of what is best for you and what you want out of your uni experience 🙂

I hope this helps a bit and best of luck!
