UCAS points for Access course

Hello, I’ve applied for an access to higher education course into midwifery, I will get 60 ucas points all in all for the course however the uni I want to go to you have to have 120 ucas points what do I do?
Access courses are usually sufficient for entry by themselves. Just ask the uni directly whether they accept that specific one.

They accept all access courses however you have to have at lease 106 ucas points so would I have to do two courses to make up the 106 ucas points. I’m going to call them on Monday

60 points is just if you pass everything, straight distinctions on an access course are equivalent to 144 ucas points

My offer is in grades (30 distinction, 15 merit) rather than points but that would be equivalent to 128 points

There are some great calculators online to help you work out what grades combinations you’ll need to get for the number of points you need

The course is validated and moderated by Ascentis under license from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and comprises of 60 credits, of which 45 are graded and 15 ungraded. You will study towards 3 credits in Preparing to Progress, 3 credits in academic writing and 54 credits over the three subjects Biology, Psychology and Professional Health Care Practice.

This is what the website says, does that still mean I can get over 60 credits, would you be able to explain this to me please:smile:

So the 60 credits are for the modules which are either 3 or 6 credits each 45 graded and 15 ungraded

UCAS points are different and the credits on your access course translate into UCAS points in the same way that A level grades do - the ucas points are basically a standardisation measure across different qualifications.

You won’t need more than 60 credits for uni.

Like I said my uni offer for midwifery is 30 distinction and 15 merit of the 45 graded credits, (so far I have 15 distinction and 3 ungraded complete) this is equivalent to 128 ucas points which is also equal to ABB at A Level
