Can't decide what uni to go to

Hi, so I currently have two unconditionals to study English at Both Aberdeen and Stirling uni. I can't decide which one to go to.

I currently go to a boarding school near Stirling so know the Uni and area pretty well. I know the lay out of the city and most of my friends are going to Edinburgh or Glasgow so I can still see them. I really like the course at Stirling however the accomodation and the fact I want to start somewhere fresh bothers me.

While Aberdeen is where I'm born and my family lives only an hour away. I would have a totally fresh new start, it's far bigger than Stirling and the accommodations better. However, I don't know anything about the English course there and don't want to be isolated from the others. Anyone got any advice???

Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. Congratulations on both of your offers! It's definitely a tough one being torn between two different unis you're interested in for different reasons. I know it might sound quite a basic but a pros and cons list can sometimes be a good way of visualising the factors when you're trying to decide between two options, and it can be useful for helping identify things which are top priority for you (e.g. you realise you really do want to move away or that you really do want to go somewhere that's closer to Edinburgh and Glasgow). This can also give you the chance to weigh up things you like about the cities and campuses if you've had the chance to see Aberdeen.

You also mention that you're worried about being isolated from others, would you be able to explain a bit more what you're worried about? I will say that a lot of people will be in the same boat as you when it comes to moving away for university and plenty of people aren't exactly sure of what their course will involve before starting it. I wouldn't be too worried about meeting other people either, but we can certainly talk about any concerns you have and if you want more information about the course I can certainly get that for you too!
