Clearing won't open until 5th July 2025. Universities don't know which courses they'll place in Clearing right now, as not all applications have arrived yet, and as most students will not yet have made their firm / insurance decisions. In fact, many courses will not go into Clearing until A level results day (14 August 2025), when universities know how many places are available (if any) on each course.

You can find out more about Clearing and how it works on this UCAS web page.

If you can get to an open day I have found the Admissions team on the day to be very helpful in terms of the previous year's clearing availability and entry requirements but they will not commit to the likelihood of actually having places in clearing for the next entry cohort as this may vary from year to year for a number of reasons. Alternatively, if you can't make it to an open day some unis are quite open to providing this info via email.

Meant to add - it is absolutely worthwhile speaking to Admissions at the Open Day, you may be amazed at how much lower the entry requirements have been in clearing for certain courses!

Hi @lima54321

Unfortunately, we aren't able to say which courses will or will not be in Clearing each year as it changes depending on how many places are available each year.

Is clearing a bad idea or not? Coz I just want to focus on revising and coursework and then apply after my results come out? I am also a big worrier of my exam results. Any tips on revising without too much effort?

"revising without too much effort?" If you're not prepared to put in "much effort" then it's not surprising that you're "a big worrier of my exam results".

Clearing should normally be considered as a fall-back in case things go wrong. Relying on Clearly can cause problems in that:
You don't know what courses will be available in Clearing at what universities.
It's very fast moving and therefore stressful - places which were available in the morning may be gone by the afternoon.
You may end up choosing a university that you don't really know a lot about - which is risky.
Getting accomodation sorted last-minute can be tricky.

Hi @SYShi002

There's definitely nothing 'bad' about applying through Clearing! And lots of applicants come through Clearing without having applied previously.

But as DataVenia said, there are some things to consider if you are choosing this option. There's no guarantee that your chosen course will be available in Clearing, as this changes every year.

I'd recommend researching universities as much as you can, so you can decide which ones you want to apply to once you have your results. Things like Virtual Tours can be a great help. Having multiple university options will mean you aren't stuck if places fill up very quickly at some universities.

If you're considering applying to BCU through Clearing then we will have Clearing Open Days running, so you'll still have the chance to come and see campus in person too! I'd recommend signing up to our Clearing emails so you can be updated as soon as Clearing is live and there is information on our available courses: https://bit.ly/3TNG4S7

However, you can still apply for BCU now via UCAS if there are spaces available on your chosen course, so you may choose this option instead of Clearing.

If you want any more help then let me know the course you're considering or anything other questions
