Hiya, I’m looking to start my undergraduate course in 2025 for LLB law in Swansea university, I’m looking for private accommodation in the area and was wondering what is the best and peoples experiences with certain ones to help me decide what is best for me, I really appreciate the help, thank you
I remember looking for accom when I was moving for uni - there's loads of really good options in Swansea!
(this is a long one - sorry)
One that's really popular is true Student - A lot of my friends were there in second year. If you're interested in facilities, etc it's really really good - there's a restaurant on site, the gym is massive and the social spaces are great as well - we held a society social there for ~50 people. (I seem to remember there being a multi-storey slide.) It's a little bit out from the campus, but there's an alright bus link, or lots of people cycle - and it's really close to Lidl. The big benefit though is that you can pick it up via the uni which means you have their backing if something goes wrong or you don't love where you are (and you can even ask to be moved to e.g. the on campus accom, space permitting - with other providers generally they can only move you around inside their own building and you're at the will of the private management company rather than the uni.)
I stayed in Seren in my first year of undergrad - it was also the first year the building was open - and I had a pretty good time. The transport link is excellent and it's really close to the nightlife (handy!) and the train station - it also had really good social spaces. If you're up in the tower you have REALLY nice views of the bay, and the building team did a really good job of putting on social stuff so you can meet people outside of your flat.
Some of my friends have stayed in Oldway (nice rooms and kitchens, again really close to the nightlife, really good gym in that one too) and Crown Place (a little further out, but you're right next to the waterfront and a big Sainsburys - though probably a better one of people studying on the Bay campus rather than Singleton where law is).
Would also seriously consider the on campus accom - a lot of the providers have shiny add-ins, but honestly I didn't find myself using many of the on site perks (though maybe should have given the karaoke room a go...) and nothing really beats the convenience of rolling out of bed at 8:55 for your 9:00 lecture. Kind of wish that's what I had done tbh! If you're doing uni right then your accom will pretty much just be where you're sleeping - the rest of the time you'll be out there making the most of it.
Hopefully that helps but if you have any other questions lmk!
